If you have been approved to present, please email 3csetc@gmail.com to have your session materials added to the 3Cs ETC Ning. Attendees will be able to access your materials and can leave feedback for you using the Forum.
Presentation Logistics
- Session Length: Sessions will be either 50 minutes or 1 hour 50 minutes.
- Internet Access: Internet access will be given based on session and participant needs.
- Computer Lab Access: Lab access priority will be given to the 1 hour 50 minute sessions.
- Software Installation: Requests for software installation can be made for labs. Please include your requests in the session proposal.
2010 Keynote Speakers
Chris O’Neal
Chris O’Neal is a former elementary and middle school teacher. During his time in the classroom, he received numerous Teacher of the Year honors and chaired the Mayor’s Committee for Youth Leadership for the City of Lake Charles. After leaving the classroom, Chris went on to work in the Curriculum and Instruction office for the school district. There he worked with teachers in high-risk schools to enhance classroom practice through the use of new teaching strategies and tools. He also developed content to support high-risk classrooms, and provided professional development to teachers and administrators. He went on to work at the State Department of Education in Louisiana, focusing on grant management, policy and planning issues, district support, and eventually becoming the state director of technology. His work with the Governor’s O ce and the Louisiana Legislature earned him status as an honorary State Senator. He has also been featured as a “Shaper of Our Future” in Converge magazine, and received the “Making it Happen” award for leaders in the field of education. He is a featured speaker each year at the National Educational Computing Conference (NECC), and serves as a Faculty Associate for the George Lucas Educational Foundation.
Bret Gensburg
As a previous high school mathematics teacher, Bret is now a doctoral student and part-time adjunct guest lecturer at the University of Akron. In February 2006, Bret was recognized as the 2006 eTech Ohio Technology Teacher of the Year for the entire state of Ohio. He is one of the few educators in the world recognized as a SMART Exemplary Educator for his knowledge and experience SMART Technologies. He also holds a SMART Training Certification. Bret has worked with schools all over the country with integrating technology and interactive boards into classrooms on all levels and subjects. At the University of Akron, Bret has taught “Integrating and Implementing Technology into the Classroom.” This course is a required course for the educational technology master’s program, and focuses on how, if at all, does technology effect learning. Bret has presented at multiple conferences in multiple sessions, including 2009 NECC, 2009 SITE, 2008 NECC, 2007 NECC, Ohio FreeTech Conferences, The Southwestern Ohio Instructional Technology Association Conference, Ohio SchoolNet / eTech Ohio Annual Conference, the Ohio Council of Teacher of Mathematics Annual Conference, National Council of Teacher of Mathematics Regional Conference, and others.
